Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus:
Mainly adults get diabetes type 2. Normally people around 35 to 40 get diabetes for various reasons. In diabetics the pancreas fail to produce sufficient amount of insulin when required or the bodies cells are unable to absorb the insulin. Insulin is a hormone, produced by the pancreas and its main task is to keep the sugar content of blood, under control when we consume food, the level of sugar in blood increases. A good supply of glucose is required to maintain energy and growth of the cells in our body, but it is tragic that body cells are unable to utilize raw glucose. Insulin facilitates the entry of glucose into the body cells. Thus the cells need glucose to function normally and glucose need insulin to enter into the cell. Thus in cases of diabetes patients, for some reason, the pancreas either do not produce insulin or produce lesser quantity of insulin with the result that the blood stream gets flooded with unused glucose. Eventually most of the glucose end up in the kidney and passes out with the urine.

Type 2 Diabetes Treatment
Patients with diabetes type 2 are, in the early stages, treated with medicine, prescribed diet and are advised to have proper exercise regularly. In late detection of type 2 diabetes, insulin injection may be required. If diabetes type 2 is not treated properly or adequately then the patients are in high risk of developing complications. In extreme cases and over a time, diabetes can cause blindness, kidney failure and nerve damage. Prolonged diabetic condition tend to harden and narrow the arteries and increase the possibility of stroke and coronary artery disease, kidney failure, foot ulcers and eye complications. For type 2 diabetes treatment or management, regular exercise is imperative. Exercising in the gym is a good physical exercise, but for people suffering from diabetes, regular practice of yoga- meditation and breathing exercises help in stress and weight management, both of which have immense advantage on daily management of diabetes.
The yoga postures that stretch and put pressure in the pancreas, stimulates the organ, thereby improving its function. The breathing exercises or pranayama contributes health improvement in many respects. In yoga visualization, if the patient concentrates on the ailing body part, and keeps thinking that the organ is functioning normally, that is believed to have beneficial effect. Health and fitness had not been so acute a problem in early days, when humans spent their time hunting and gathering fruits and berries to eat. So they were blessed with plenty of exercise and fresh and nutritious food. Though dangers were all around, his survival instinct pushed him to think, invent and philosophize. Modern life has become simple and sedate. We sit in our office and work hard to earn money. Then spend the money to buy food and provisions.
There is nothing wrong in that life style provided that we make sure to get ample exercise and plenty of nutritious food to keep our metabolism in healthy state. Mental health is becoming an increasingly important issue. It is evident now that there is close connection between body and mind. Both science and medicine now accept that regular practice of yoga meditation helps to reduce stress, enhance mobility reduce blood pressure and improve overall well being. Anxiety and depression melts away, boosting the energy level and the power to concentrate. So far science has not made enough effort to determine the extent of benefit of yoga practices on diabetes.
However there are conclusive studies to establish a link between yoga meditation and stress management. Stress busting yoga postures and mindful meditations help regulate cortisol and other stress hormones which play a part in increasing blood pressure level and blood glucose, both having roles in setting in of diabetes. Yoga can help to manage diabetes and in early cases may even cure type 2 diabetes by helping to regenerate pancreatic cells. As with other forms of exercises, yoga practice increase sugar intake by muscular cells, which uses up blood sugar, improves blood circulation, reducing risk of cardiovascular diseases. Yoga meditation promotes weight loss, which is an important factor for diabetes prevention or management. As mental health improves accepting diabetes becomes easier.
